Dreame A2 “Positioning failed” issue: this needs a serious response from Dreame

I want to raise this clearly because this is no longer an isolated user issue.

My Dreame A2 worked very well last summer. The map was stable, positioning was reliable, and mowing was smooth. Since earlier this year, however, the robot repeatedly reports “Positioning failed”, sometimes every few minutes. In some cases it recovers temporarily, but then fails again shortly after. Even worse, it sometimes appears to lose its position completely and moves outside the mapped area.

I have already done the standard troubleshooting:

* LiDAR cleaned and checked
* robot restarted multiple times
* base station unchanged
* garden unchanged
* map unchanged
* latest firmware installed
* logs uploaded
* issue happens randomly across open grass, not in one specific difficult area

So please do not simply reply again with “clean the LiDAR and restart the robot”. That answer does not address the problem.

Looking through this forum, it is obvious that many users are reporting the same or very similar issues. The pattern is worrying: for many of us, the mower worked perfectly last season, and the positioning problems started only this year. That strongly suggests a broader firmware, localization, LiDAR, or system issue, not simply dirty sensors or user error.

What frustrates me most is the lack of a proper Dreame response. These are expensive devices. We bought them to save time during the mowing season, not to constantly babysit them, restart them, remap gardens, upload logs, and receive generic support replies.

Dreame needs to acknowledge this issue publicly and provide a clear answer:

1. Is this a known issue affecting A2/A1 Pro devices?
2. Is it related to a firmware update?
3. Are the uploaded logs actually being analyzed?
4. Is a firmware fix planned?
5. When is the fix expected?
6. How can users distinguish a software/localization issue from a defective LiDAR module?
7. What is Dreame’s proposed solution for customers in the middle of summer who cannot simply send the mower away for 3 to 4 weeks?

At this point, the standard troubleshooting script is not enough. We need a real technical explanation and a clear action plan.

I still like the concept of the A2, and when it works, it is a very capable mower. But the current positioning behavior is unreliable and unacceptable for a premium robotic mower.

Dreame, please escalate this properly and give affected customers a serious response.

Guten Tag,
