[Matrix10 Ultra] “Unable to reach the specified area” when cleaning a room (With Carpet)

What was happening

I had a carpeted room already on the map (with a small threshold I’d configured). But when I selected that room to vacuum, the Matrix10 would:

-  leave the base station

-  basically go nowhere

-  return to base

-  show “Unable to reach the specified area” on the app

It would clean outside the room, and if I physically placed it inside the carpeted room it could clean and even navigate back to the base - so it wasn’t a navigation/threshold issue.

Cause (Support confirmed)

That carpet area had its Carpet Cleaning Mode set to “Avoid” - so the robot was intentionally refusing to enter it when sent there.

Fix

In the app:

-  Open the Map

-  Tap the carpet area / room

-  Find Carpet Cleaning Mode

-  Change from Avoid → a normal mode (e.g. vacuum)

-  Start the room clean again

Result

As soon as I switched it off Avoid, it worked perfectly and went straight in.

Tip

If the robot can clean the room when placed inside it, but won’t travel to it and throws this error, double-check you haven’t accidentally set that carpet/room to Avoid.

Too smart of its own good! Mine refused to leave the kitchen and clean the other rooms. Turned out my wife had left her shoes close to the door. It spotted this as an obstacle that it wanted to give a wide berth, which ment it did not think it had room to get past the door. Moved the shoes and sent it back to work.
