Performance downgrade on carpets

After recent firmware update, L40 Ultra AE repeatedly backs off and repositions on high-pile carpet, as if stuck. Issue did not occur before update. Happens even with clear carpet, no obstacles.

After recent firmware update, L40 Ultra AE repeatedly backs off and repositions on high-pile carpet, as if stuck. Issue did not occur before update. Happens even with clear carpet, no obstacles.

Try clearing the map completely and then re‑mapping the area with a fresh run so the robot can re‑learn the surface transitions. Also check if there’s a carpet sensitivity / boost mode setting in the app for your L40 AE that needs tweaking. If the update changed how it detects high‑pile carpet, setting carpet boost higher can sometimes stop the backing‑off behavior.

Since it is clearly tied to the update, Dreame support may already have an internal note on this specific symptom. If it persists, send them your firmware version, screenshots of the behavior, and a short video of it backing off so they can confirm whether it’s a bug and advise the next fix or roll‑back.
