[X50 Ultra Complete] Battery Drain & Heating Issue

Hi Dreame Team & Community,

I am writing from Ukraine. I purchased the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete on September 2, 2025, and I am facing a critical issue with power management.

1. Cleaning Performance:
When I use the "CleanGenius" + Deep cleaning mode. My apartment cleaning zone is approx. 40 m² plus re-cleaning some rooms +10 m².

The robot sometimes hits low battery (8-10%) before finishing this small area. It returns to the dock, recharges for hours, and then resumes just to clean the last few meters.

It is very inconvenient when cleaning is divided into two sessions with a long break.

2. Standby Drain & Overheating:

Suspecting a battery issue, I conducted a controlled test disconnected from the dock:

First 10 minutes: The battery drops 1% per minute (from 99% to 90% in just 10 minutes after undocking).

Sleep Mode: After 10 minutes, the indicator light turns off, but the battery drain continues significantly.

12-Hour Test Result: I left the robot off the dock (in sleep mode). The battery dropped from 99% to 32% in exactly 12 hours. It lost ~67% of its charge without doing any work.

17-Hour Update: By morning, the robot reached 10% charge on its own and was forced to return to the dock to avoid total shutdown. It lost ~90% of its charge in less than 17 hours in standby.

Heat: I noticed that the top of the vacuum remains WARM to the touch even when it is in deep sleep. Because of this heat, I am really afraid to leave the device powered on when I am not at home.

In my opinion, this massive standby drain leads to constant "micro-charging" cycles. Since the battery leaks power so fast, the dock is forced to recharge it 24/7 just to keep it alive. I believe this can destroy the battery’s lifespan within a few months, as it is effectively "working" and wearing out even when it should be resting.

3. Official Service Response:
I sent the unit to the authorized service center in Ukraine.

They updated the firmware to the latest version.

Then they returned it stating "No defect found" and claimed this behavior is "expected."

The firmware update did NOT fix the issue — the battery drain and overheating persist.

Conclusion:
I find it hard to believe that a flagship robot losing 90% of its charge in standby and staying warm is "normal."
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this really the expected quality for the X50 Ultra, or did I receive a defective unit?

Hi. I must agree this does sound like a fault but I have no solution. Interested to see what the rest of the community suggests.

It does sound like a faulty one, have you contacted support? They are hard to deal with at times but eventually will listen to what you have to say and are quite good in putting things right.
I'm on my thirds L40s pro ultra and all 3 seem to have been defective from start or after few weeks, they are now replacing the 3rd one! Not great when they cost so much money!!!

I have already sent this device to the official service center here in Ukraine. They returned it with a conclusion stating that everything works as expected and no defect was found.

That's disappointing sorry to hear, I would perhaps insist more in having it replaced

Hello,

Thank you for your concerns and sharing of your experience. The Deep clean mode uses excessive amount of power, which reduces the battery life significantly. It is recommended to adjust the cleaning parameter configuration according to the actual situation of the home environment. For daily cleaner home environments, quick cleaning can be used.

If you still believe there is fault of the device's battery, please reach out to us at Email: dreamesupport@dreame.tech or by Phone +46 200123326 (Mon.-Fri. 09:00-18:00).

Thank you for the advice. I re-tested using Standard Mode (vacuum only).
Result: Cleaning 29 m² took 49 min and consumed 31% battery.
However, my main concern is still the critical 90% standby drain (in 17h) I reported.
I will reach out to support via email with these details. Thanks.

I have retested it in custom mode: just vacuuming without mopping, using standard suction mode.
The result: 34 m² in 55 minutes, with 64% battery remaining.
However, the battery drain issue still exists.
If I receive any updates from support, I will let you know.
Thank you for your involvement in my issue.

UPDATE:
Dreame Support confirmed that 90% standby drain is NOT normal and indicates a hardware defect. However, since the 30-day return window passed, they refused a direct replacement.
They sent me back to the local service center (SmartGroup) for a second inspection. This time, Support explicitly demanded diagnostics for battery health, power management, and thermal behavior. Heading there now with this official confirmation.

Update 3:

Conversely, if the authorized service center determines that no defect exists, the unit will be officially considered to be functioning within the manufacturer’s specifications.

Update 2: Message from support

Please consider the following important clarification:
When we previously indicated that the described behavior is “not typical,” this evaluation was based solely on the information and test results you supplied. We have not conducted a physical examination of the unit ourselves and, therefore, cannot officially confirm whether the device is defective. As we are not a repair center and do not have direct technical access to the device, only the authorized service center, after performing a physical diagnostic inspection of your specific unit, can formally determine:
