I’ve just recieved the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra and thought I’d share a quick unboxing + first setup write-up for anyone on the fence, or anyone who likes seeing how the real-world setup goes (spoiler: it was refreshingly painless).
Also: our cat decided this was their moment. They supervised the whole process like a tiny grey health & safety officer. 🐾
Packaging: built like it’s travelling to the moon
First impression: seriously solid packaging. Strong outer box, good internal protection, and everything felt properly braced and organised. No “loose bits rattling around” vibes at all.
If you’re the type who immediately worries about couriers playing football with expensive tech… this unboxing is pretty reassuring.
Build quality: premium feel right out of the box
Both the robot and the home station felt well finished - clean panel lines, nice materials, and a general “this doesn’t feel flimsy” confidence.
The station design is especially satisfying once you start opening it up and realising how much is packed into it.
The cleaning agent / additive setup is a standout
One of my favourite features so far: the cleaning agent dispensing and the option for different additives. I like that it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach - it feels like Dreame expects people to actually use the mop function properly, not as an afterthought.
I’m genuinely excited to see how well the mopping performs on day-to-day kitchen marks and general foot traffic.
Setup: straightforward (and fast)
- Setup was easy end-to-end: - Assembly and accessories were simple and intuitive
- Wi-Fi pairing was painless
- The app recognised the unit quickly
- Dock placement and first power-up felt “guided” without being annoying
Overall: a smooth first experience - which is exactly what you want when the box is the size of a small fridge.
The important bit: what I liked vs what I’d improve
Positives (first impressions)
- Packaging was excellent (strong boxes, well protected)
- Build quality on robot + station feels premium
- Cleaning agent/additive approach is genuinely interesting
- Mopping potential looks promising (very keen to test)
- Wi-Fi + app setup was simple
- Accessories/assembly were easy to understand
Negatives / feedback (so far)
- I can’t find a way to fully silence voice notifications from the robot (this could be loud at night - Found Do Not Disturb schedule but be nice to see if a volume control)
- The settings are extensive, but spread across multiple menus (a “settings search” or a cleaner single settings hub would help a lot)
- I’d love a more intensive/precise mapping mode alongside quick mapping (quick mapping is great, but sometimes you want the “slow and thorough” option)
- On the Quick Start Guide, it would help if “DO NOT…” steps were more visually obvious (bolder warnings + icons for the common mistakes)
Questions for the community (help me out!)
- Has anyone found the best way to reduce or mute voice notifications on the Matrix10 Ultra?
- For mapping: what settings give the cleanest map + best room separation?
- Any tips on getting the most out of the mopping on hard floors (water level / pass count / pad behaviour)?
Next test: ramp time
We’ve got a step between areas of the house, so my next experiment is building a small ramp and seeing how reliably the Matrix10 Ultra transitions between zones.
If anyone has tried ramps (angles, surface grip, minimum width, etc.), I’m all ears, I’ll report back once I’ve tested it.
