Robot floor cleaning is becoming increasingly sophisticated, and we're approaching the limits of simple floor cleaning.
It's time to offer more comprehensive cleaning features.
Here are a few ideas:
- The robot should be able to detect whether the object in front of it is something movable or not, and if so, group these items together in one place so that it can clean the area concerned.
- The robot could also clean the top of a home's skirting boards, by having an arm equipped with a suction system with a brush to suck up any dust that gets lodged there.
- The robot should be able to open/close the doors of certain rooms, so that it can clean, for example, the toilet, which is usually a closed room.
- The robot should be able to clean closet rails, where a lot of dirt gets trapped.
- Thanks to its arm, the robot could clean certain products that are close to the floor, such as the legs of a desk.
- The robot should be able to detect heavy dirt and spray a high-temperature liquid depending on the floor, enabling more thorough cleaning.
- Steam cleaning could also be offered, a feature appreciated by parents with children.
- A system that eliminates the need for a waste bag would also be very interesting, allowing the waste to be evacuated in very fine particles directly into the dirty water.
- Corners should be better covered at 100%, it's no longer enough to cover corners at 95% (simple observation).
- The robot should be modular, i.e. it should be able to break apart to reach places that are impossible to reach.
- The robot's design should be rethought to enable simple replacement of parts using modular, clip-on components.
- The robot should become even slimmer, enabling it to pass under a maximum of furniture/canapés. The retractable turret is a good thing, but we'll have to wait for the ultimate in finesse.
