[X50 Ultra Complete] Initial impressions of the Dreame X50 UC

Here are my initial impressions of the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete with firmware 4.3.9_1911

Issues:

- During the initial mapping, although the house looked fine while scanning, the map rotated around 45 degrees and became skewed as soon as it divided the rooms at the end. I tried this process several times, but the result didn’t change. Finally, I closed off the room at the far end, changed the location of the station, and after that it mapped correctly. Then I put the station back in its original place and forced the robot to find it. It added the room in the next cleaning session and I manually divided it. It seems to be working properly for now with this method.

- On average, it consumes about 1% battery for every 1 minute or 1 square meter. (Achieving the advertised 205m² / 220min is impossible even in silent mode and this is unacceptable.)

- Sometimes it stops in the middle of a carpet or on the floor and does strange movements, spinning around itself several times before continuing.

- When returning to the station, it doesn't take the shortest route; it tries to go under chairs and such.

- In the first mopping attempt, although it recognized the carpet and lifted its mops, it roamed around the entire carpet as if it was cleaning it, but the mops didn’t spin.

- Not using side brush or mop extend in every corners or needed areas.

Pros:

- If it can navigate properly, the vacuuming and mopping performance is excellent.

- There’s absolutely no issue with hair tangling.

Questions:

New firmware 4.3.9_2044 released with below notes:

1. Increase energy-saving clean mode to enhance battery range
2. Add Turkish voice control.
3. Fix known issues.
4. Update content for minority languages.

- I exactly wanted to learn what are those fixed known issues, could you please share details?

- Have these above listed issues been resolved with the latest firmware update?

- After installing a new firmware version, is it necessary to reset the device or remap the house?

- Is there any chance you could share the known issues that are still awaiting a fix?

(As far as I know, Dreame is working on a solution to increase the charging voltage during ongoing cleaning operations only to improve cleaning duration.)

Hello! I answered your questions or problems in order:

1. The device will automatically update the room map according to the actual environment during the cleaning process. This function cannot be turned off for the time being. You can save a backup map and restore the backup map when the map on the APP changes.
2. Since the data is tested in a laboratory environment, there will be some differences between the advertised data and the power consumption in the actual environment. The X50 consumes 1% of power per minute because it is equipped with dual roller brushes, which enhance its obstacle-crossing and recognition capabilities. These features increase the power consumption of the X50. Our technical department has optimized this in the latest firmware version.
3. This phenomenon is that the robot is identifying the surrounding environment to determine whether there are obstacles, which is normal.
4. Our device does not yet support the function of determining the shortest path.
5. The device will automatically identify and clean the carpet. When cleaning the carpet, the mop will be automatically lifted to prevent the carpet from getting dirty.
6. You can adjust the mop extension function to high-frequency mode to improve this situation.
7. "Fix known issues" mainly targets some system optimization items that do not affect core functions, including performance tuning and interface display improvements in some scenarios. Since these fixes involve low-level technical details and are relatively scattered, we have not listed them one by one to avoid information overload. Please rest assured that all fixes have been rigorously tested to improve the overall user experience.
8. After installing the latest firmware version, there is no need to reset the device or recreate the map.

If you still have questions, please feel free to let me know.

Thank you very much for your prompt response...

1- I’m wondering why, during the initial mapping, the map was correctly formed while scanning, but became tilted by 45 degrees when it attempted to divide the rooms itself. Is there a problem with the product? I’m also curious why it corrected itself after I either changed the station’s location or closed off a room, is this normal?

2- There is nearly a twofold difference between the values highlighted in the advertisement and the actual performance. I believe this discrepancy is too large to be attributed solely to lab conditions. Do you consider a battery consumption of 1% per 1m² per minute during real-life use to be normal?

3- It doesn’t behave this way every time, but there’s a strange pattern to it.

4- Maybe I didn’t express it clearly when I said “shortest path”, let’s say “easiest path” instead. It loses several minutes navigating between table and chair legs when trying to return to the station.

5- I’m aware of that feature, but what I’m referring to is the situation after selecting “vacuum first, then mop.” The carpet had already been vacuumed, yet during the mopping phase, it went back onto the carpet and just wandered around.

6- I’ve already set the frequency to the highest level.

7- Thank you.

8- Thank you.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with the product. I just wanted to point out some significant issues I’ve experienced. I’ve noticed that many customers, especially regarding battery usage, are unsure whether there's a defect with their device, so I wanted to mention these points specifically.

Hello!
1. There is no problem with the product, this is normal. This should be a small bug in the APP. I have reported it to the technical department and hope it will be optimized in the future.

2. Compared with previous products, X50 has added or improved many functions. However, the battery capacity has not changed, so this situation has occurred. In fact, this is normal. Our R&D department has realized this problem and will pay extra attention to the balance between battery and function in future product development. Please believe us.

4. I understand what you mean now. Are the table legs or chair legs highly reflective surfaces? If they are highly reflective surfaces, it will affect the robot's recognition. This may cause this situation.

5. Can you update a photo of the carpet?

6. In high-frequency mode, the mop can be extended normally, indicating that there is no abnormality in this function.

Thank you for the answers. If the issue occurs again, I’ll record a video. The carpet in question is a standard light brown, low-pile type, without any patterns or color variations.

Additionally, I'm experiencing another issue related to floor material settings; When I assign a specific floor type to each room, they all revert back to “Floor tile” after a cleaning cycle, and my selections are not saved.

Today I was able to perform a full battery consumption test with the Dreame X50 Ultra. It cleaned 100m² in 180 minutes and returned to the station with 10% charge remaining, then started recharging. Carpets were cleaned in boost mode, all features were enabled, and it completed the entire task using the CleanGenius and DeepClean modes and vacuuming first, then mopping.

As a result, the consumption rate I observed in earlier tests around 1% per minute from 100% down to 80% wasn’t actually accurate...
