Dreame X50 Ultra Complete – Issues and Feedback After 2 Weeks of Use (Norway)

Hi,

I recently bought the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete, brand new, from an electronics chain here in Norway—just two weeks ago. At first, I was beyond impressed with how well it mapped our apartment, vacuumed, and mopped the floors.
But over time, I’ve started noticing more and more issues. I’d like to share them here to both get feedback and maybe help others with similar experiences. Here's a breakdown of the problems:

🔧 Problems I'm Experiencing

1. Trouble crossing a threshold (4 cm)
It now struggles with a specific threshold it used to cross easily during the first days.

2. Obstacle crossing mode confusion
Even when I select “Synchronized Obstacle Crossing”, it seems to default back to “Hurdle-style” on the threshold mentioned above.

3. Dock light stays green even without detergent
When I remove the detergent container from the dock, the dock light still stays green in the app. Is this normal?
I can confirm it's using detergent (the dirty water foams when shaken), but something seems off here.

4. Misidentifying the cat tree
At first, it correctly detected the cat tree as a “Base” and avoided it. Now, it still labels it a base but tries to climb it.
Tried setting a No-Go Zone, but the minimum size (0.5m x 0.5m) is too large and causes it to miss cleaning a big section around it.

5. No firmware update (still on 4.3.9_1911)
I’ve heard about the 4.3.9_2033 update, but I’m still stuck on 4.3.9_1911.
I live in Norway—could this be region-related? When can I expect the update?

6. Dustbin not always emptied properly
Sometimes there’s dust and debris left in the vacuum, and in the worst case—cat litter ends up left inside the suction pipe of the emptying station.
When the robot leaves the dock, some of that litter falls onto the mop pads, which then get washed. Water + cat litter is not a great combo.
Maybe a longer emptying cycle would work better than two quick ones?

7. Poor handling of large particles
When it detects “Large Particles”, it does one slow pass, then speeds up—causing stuff like cat litter to scatter all over again.
Why not stay slow with the side brush active, so it can collect better, especially using the current checkerboard pattern, which works great?

8. “Side Extend” doesn’t work often enough
Same issue as described here: Dreame forum post. (https://forum.dreametech.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=750)
Even with “High frequency” enabled, the side brush doesn’t extend as often as it should.

9. Doesn’t clean edges properly
In some cases, it avoids edges even though the furniture height allows it to get closer without lowering the LiDAR sensor.

10. Making abnormal noises
Makin rattling noices just like in this post https://forum.dreametech.com/for ... amp;extra=page%3D1.

Found out it was the black brush that has come loose? Would love to get this changed out... Because the noise is really loud!

💬 Final Thoughts

Don’t get me wrong—this robot is brilliant in many ways, and overall I’m happy with it.
But at nearly 16,000 NOK, I expected fewer bugs and a smoother experience, especially considering it's a new flagship model.

I've enabled every smart feature available in the settings, but some of them don’t seem to be working as well as they should.

Anyone else experiencing the same? Any fixes or tips from Dreame staff or fellow users?

TL;DR (for quick readers)

  • Multiple bugs/odd behaviors showing up after 2 weeks of use
  • Some settings seem to not function correctly
  • Firmware stuck on old version (4.3.9_1911)
  • Hoping for clarification or fixes via firmware or user suggestions

Thanks in advance for any help or insight! 🙏

OK, I have received your message and forwarded it to the relevant department for follow-up.

The main reason for buying the X50 over for example Roborock, was the ability to climb high thresholds because that is a huge problem in most old homes in Norway. And not everyone wants ramps everywher

I've sent you a private message now. Hope to get at least some of this sorted out quickly :) I don't want to be the "Picky" person, but for a premium product I was expecting a lot when buying it.

Stay with firmware 1911. The newest update bings significant bugs.
